2010 Kings Peak and the Duck Pond

Adam hiked with the young men in our ward to Kings Peak, the highest point in Utah. The first day they hiked closer to the peak than they intended because they couldn't see the camp site in all the rain and mud. The next day they hiked to the top, broke camp, hiked out and drove home in one day. I can't remember how many miles it was, I think around 20 miles the second day including the hike to the peak. They intended to stay for two nights, but as it turned out, the first night was so cold, with so little sleep (they hadn't been able to get all dried out from walking in the rain the first day and Adam had ice on the inside walls of his tent), they ended up surprising us and getting back very late the next night, exhausted but happy with their accomplishment. At least that's how Adam was, and very happy to be home where he could sleep in his own bed. It was especially a relief and an accomplishment for him because he was mostly in charge of making the trip happen and making sure the young men were ready. And I was proud of him :)

A few days later we had a little picnic at the duck pond. We fed the ducks some old bread, went for a walk and threw rocks in the water, which is one of Annie's favorite things to do. Adam showed the kids how to skip rocks, not that they could do it. And we took some cute pictures.

Since Adam hadn't shaved for a few days for the hike, he kept a goatee for a few days. I think he looks really good with one, but it only lasted a few days. At least I took a few pictures.
